Preparing your car for winter!

  • Snow Tires. Get Some! It's hard to overstate just how important it is to have a set of snow tires on your car during the winter. Snow tires have a special rubber chemical composition that keeps them flexible in the cold weather, as well as a unique tread patter that bites into snow and ice while allowing slush to slip off the surface, providing better traction. That makes a huge difference when it comes to safe travel in the winter time, so don't hesitate to get your all-season tires changed for a set of winter tires before the first snows fall.
  • Snag yourself some all-weather floor mats! If you're like many drivers from nearby Bellevue, Papillion, NE and Council Bluffs, IA, you probably have a door mat to wipe your feet on outside your front door so you don't track salt, mud, and snow into your house during the winter. So, why would you want to track it into your car? With some all-weather floor mats, you can keep your car's interior cleaner during the winter time, which goes a long way to maintaining your car's value over time.
  • Make sure your emergency kit is fully stocked! Every driver should keep an emergency kit in their car, but its especially important during the wintertime. If you want to avoid trouble out on the road, make sure your emergency kit includes a first-aid kid and simple tool kit, blanket, water and non-perishable food like granola bars, and reflectors and / or road flares. In addition, you should add some winter specific items like a small collapsible shovel, road salt and kitty litter for gaining traction in slippery situations, and a small jug of antifreeze.
